@t Bristol - Public Squares & Spaces
Bristol by Ferguson Mann Architects for @t Bristol, RDA Bristol Completion 2000 Three new public squares and underground car park. Urban design/masterplanning of 98 million Bristol Harbourside project, including design of the 550 space underground car park and public spaces. AFM's commission for the project as built, as part of Concept Planning Group, included the detailed design of the three new spaces created by the Millennium funded project. The project also had a 500k budget for public artworks. Eight commissions were made for pieces within the squares and spaces which included 'Zenith', a light sculpture by David Ward, and 'Aquarina' a water terrace sculpture by Bill Pye. The team was also responsible for the design of the principal elements of infrastructure, including the 550-space underground car park, and all ancillary structures including ground level entrance pavilions and tower vents. The conservation expertise within the team enabled the repair and re-use of historic structures, most notably the Grade 2* listed Rowes Leadworks, now incorporated within the Wildscreen @t Bristol project. |
