This commission was won in a limited competition, when our design was considered the best resolution to the detailed brief, which included day care, home care and in-patient accommodation.

The aims of the design were to balance comfortable domesticity with the security of a competent medical environment.

The relationship of the building to the landscape was particularly important. Rooms open out onto sheltered external spaces with wider vistas beyond. Use was made of ground modelling and water to enhance the therapeutic quality of the landscape.
