Acanthus LW formed a design team with Tony Gee & Partners to provide design services for a new depot facility at New Cross Gate for Transport for London as a part of the East London Line redevelopment.

The new Maintenance Facility Building houses a maintenance hall containing three inspection pits, a bogie jack road, train roof access gantries plus associated stores and workshops  served by overhead crane.

4,500 square metres of floor area on four levels contains Depot Management offices, Administration functions and staff welfare facilities, which can be separately accessed if required.

Acanthus LW worked closely with for Balfour Beatty Carillion, TfL and the Local Authorities to discharge a number of planning conditions in order to keep this project on programme.  Construction and handover was completed in March 2010 in time for the new train service to commence in May 2010.
