Croxley Rail Link
Watford
for Mouchel/Hertfordshire County
Completion 2003
The Croxley Rail Link is a project connecting the Watford branch of the Metropolitan Line to the National Rail network at Watford Junction.
A new railway link will be contracted between the existing Metropolitan Line at Baldwins Lane, Rickmansworth and the disused Croxley Green branch at Ascot Road, Watford. This disused line is currently a single track railway and will be ugraded to dual track. Works will involve a new embankment and viaduct. Acanthus LW Architects are working with Mouchel and Hertfordshire County Council to develop an overall architectural design approach for Croxley Rail Link and to provide designs for the new and refurbished stations at Ascot Road, West Watford, Watford High Street and Watford Junction. The proposed new stations are to act as landmark structures for the new Rail Link whilst remaining sensitive to the local heritage.
